If you haven’t yet heard of BB creams then you have been living a very sheltered life and I’m glad you’re here.
What is it? Beauty balm that is basically an all-in-one beauty product to take the place of your primer, moisturizer, sometimes sunblock and even foundation. Sounds too good to be true? Well, sort of. If you are younger and have fabulous skin with an even skin tone, a bb cream could work for you as a solo product. I am neither young nor have an even skin tone so I use my bb cream under foundation.
My first and only bb cream so far is L’Oreal Paris’s MAGIC, Skin Beautifier. I can’t recall my first try, but I believe it was a tiny sample in a magazine. I liked it enough to go purchase my own tube. I use the fair color. I really do like it and it gives me a bit of tint, which I need. I don’t feel it’s the best in the moisturizer category because I have dry skin right now and need extra moisture. So it may defeat the purpose of the all-in-one because I use at least 3, but again…I am not young and do not have flawless skin. Acutally, I use even more products than these three but will get to those another time. For makeup, it’s the L’Oreal bb cream and then foundation.
I highly recommend trying it. I think it’s very affordable and so is worth it.
Some price comparisons I did this morning:
Beauty.com: Origins spf 15 BB Cream $35, Smashbox, spf 35, BB Cream $39, UrbanDecay spf 20 $34,
Nordstrom.com: Smashbox ‘Camera Ready’ BB Cream SPF 35 $39
Sephora.com: Bobbi Brown BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35 $42
Walmart.com: Covergirl spf 15 $6.24,
Drugstore.com : L’Oreal Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator SPF 15, $16.99
My recommendation when choosing your color is to go lighter because it does have a tint to it after you put it on. It appears white at first but changes. You’ll notice that more on your fingers than on your face at first. I usually wash my face and moisturize. Later I put on the bb cream and let it sit a while. Then I do foundation almost last. Usually after doing my eyes.
Next I’m going to try the Age Perfection BB cream from L’Oreal. I found on Drugstore.com for $16.99. Or maybe the other version, Youth Code. This girl needs all the help she can get!
Try it and let me know what you think.
