Not so heavy metal

Metallics, typically reserved for party wear, is making it’s way into our everyday wear this fall.  It can be a tricky trend to pull off so that you don’t blind innocent bystanders.  Here are a few items we love and how to play it down for day.

Loving that Michael Kors is doing plus size (top at Nordstrom.com).  This top has subtle draping a the top to dress it up just a bit.  Fabulous for the work day with a simple jacket over the top.  I’d go for something with a deep V, few buttons and definitely hitting at the hip, not below.   Simple hoop earrings would be a nice finishing touch for evening and would draw the eye a bit more to your face – good if you don’t love your arms.

I’m not loving the shape of this blouse because it’s a bit boxy, definitely might not be great for all body types (bcbg.com).  I do like the black trim neckline that gives it a bit of structure.  Again, easy to do from day to night with a jacket.

Baby stepping into something new is always my first choice.  This ruffled tank is a great example how to take just a touch of a trend to step only slightly outside your fashion box (Nordstrom.com).  And a fabulous casual, day time look!  Of course you don’t have to do the metallic trend in apparel.  Try a large cuff bracelet, a bronze handbag or studded jacket.  Many options, lots of right ways to do it.  Have fun!
