Emmy frocks 2010

I’m not entirely sure what to say about many of the dresses worn last night at the Emmy awards.  In my humble opinion there were more bad dresses than good.  Apparently only 1/2 of the ladies got the memo that it was a Roman theme. 😉  Others made me wonder if they just forgot which award celebration they were attending.

Edie Falco – Bottega Veneta.  Many gave Falco rave reviews on this dress.  Standing, it did her no justice.  I hated the waist-line.  Walking across the stage however made the dress look quite lovely.

Sofia Vegara – Carolina Herrera.  Great dress, a bit matchy-matchy on the accessories.  Still, bravo for the beautiful silhouette.  And how ’bout that fabulous hair?

January Jones (in blue) – Versace.  What the??????  MTV awards perhaps?  Wrong show doll.  Madonna may have loved that bodice with the cone-shaped breasts though.  It’s too bad…she’s lovely and could have really rocked a great gown worthy of the Emmy’s.

Claire Danes – Giorgio Armani Prive.  I think Claire looks stunning in this gown shimmering with Swarovski drop crystals and sequins, even if it reminded me a tiny bit of Cameron’s Oscar dress.   While not in the bold color category, the nudes are definitely fabulous if you can rock it like Claire.

Lea Michele – Oscar de la Renta.  Another gown that I loved.  A dress like this could swallow such a tiny frame, but this gal made it work.  The fit is so fabulous plus the mermaid like back…delish.  A bit overboard on the gems…but will forgive her.

Sarah Hyland was not praised much for this choice but I thought it looked stunning.  The way the fabric drapes her frame it seems made just for her.  Unlike some whose dressed looked forced on their bodies (see Julia below).

My absolute top, for the worst: Lauren Graham.  I just don’t get it.  Not sure what the goal was here, but it was definitely out of bounds.

One more category we had to add because while we adore this woman and her handsome hubby, is the WHAT THE? category.  Because we have no idea what Rita was thinking when she put on this hot mess.  Individually the dress or the shoes are fab…together…eek.
